God takes 2 things.
The 1st one being the most shameful part of a man, which up until that point is nothing more than self-satisfying and, less intentionally, shameful and a means of wounding.
The 2nd one being the most shameful part of a woman, which up until that point is identical in purpose as the man’s as well as additionally providing a means of fear that their purity will be either taken from them by means of force, or revealed to the public in a degrading manner through the form of commercialization.
In short, God takes the shame of man and the shame of woman and miraculously turns them into a gift of pride, joy, and everything that opposes shame.
So the next time your child asks you where babies come from, you can tell them that they come from God’s unending stream of grace and mercy.
Tell them about your brokenness. They won’t love you any less. Children are beautiful like that.
Tell them about the brokenness in the world. It’s better for them to walk through it hand in hand with you, someone who has had hope revealed to them, than to walk through it alone and be too ashamed to bring their sorrow to anyone.
